Young People Leaving Hinduism for the One, True God

A group of people standing with a sign.

An amazing group of young people have left the millions of Hindu gods and goddesses they grew up with to learn more about the one true God. Hallelujah! Last month, 75 students from three different states and 10 people groups in India began a six-month residential course in Mission Study. Together, they are examining topics such as the Old Testament, New Testament and life of Jesus, as well as studying ch*rch planting manuals, computers and spoken English.

Our partner created this Disciple Maker School to train and equip young adults to serve as ch*rch planters, pastors and other strong leaders for the Kingdom. Many of the workers needed to accomplish the vision of No Village Left – to plant a healthy ch*rch in every village of Northern India by 2033 – will be trained at this school.

“God is transforming their lives,” said our partner. “God transformed my life when I was in B*ble school many years ago, and now I see Him working in these students’ hearts and minds. They are learning to live with purpose and vision, and are going to lead God’s Kingdom in India.”

Here are two students’ inspiring stories.

My name is Ch*ndi. I was brought up in a Hindu family, and we used to worship lots of gods and goddesses in search of peace and joy. All of our efforts were in vain, and our condition got worse day by day. When we no longer had money for food, my mother decided to end her life by suicide. Thankfully, she was saved by one of the men in the village who loves the Lord. He began counseling my mother, me and the rest of the family with the Word of God.

We finally decided to follow Jesus and put our trust in Him. By the grace of God, we found peace, joy and hope. God did a miracle and brought us out of poverty. Now, I am studying at the DMS to learn more about Jesus. I want to serve Him the rest of my life and see everyone around me set free from the darkness of this world.

My name is An*nd. I lived a very bad life before accepting Jesus Christ as my Savior. I was born into a Hindu family and from a young age hated all other religions. When I worked as a day laborer, I started mingling with bad people and living like them. Later, when I worked at a factory in Delhi, I started making a lot of money. As my money increased, so did my bad lifestyle. One day, as I was returning home, I was shot and beaten by three thieves. Badly injured, I was hospitalized.

While bedridden, I learned of Jesus Christ through a pastor who was preaching in the hospital. The words of Jesus touched my heart and I confessed all my sin to Him. Miraculously, God delivered me from all those bad times, helped me stop my bad habits and instead, focus on the Word and prayer. Now, I am studying at the DMS to learn more and share the Good News with others.

Please continue praying for these new, young followers of Jesus, and if the Lord is calling you to give, click the button below.  Your support will enable more students like Chandi and Anand to enroll in this transformational program. Together, we can see No Village Left!
