From Graveyard to Vineyard!

Christianity represents less than 1% of the 600 million people living in the North Indian states of Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal. For years, missionaries called this area the graveyard of missions because of the challenges of the caste system, Hin*u and Mu*lim resistance, and poverty.
But not anymore! At Friends of India Network (FOIN), we believe the most effective way to reach India is through local, Indigenous leaders who know the language, culture and people. Over the last decade, our partner and his organization have focused on these five unreached states, and have already established over 50,000 house churches!
Together, we have a vision to see No Village Left–a healthy house chu*ch in all 242,000 villages of Northern India by 2033. The graveyard is becoming God’s vineyard, ripe for harvest!
How do you reach the 600 million people in Northern India with the gospel? Very strategically. In India, the government divides each state into districts, which are broken into towns, then blocks, panchayats, and villages. For example, the Ro*tas District in Bihar consists of 3 towns, 19 blocks, 229 panchayats and finally, 2,101 villages. The ministry assigns different types of workers to each area.

140 Grassroots Chu*ch Planters–Each chu*ch planter is assigned to a panchayat and is responsible for reaching and planting chu*ches in 15-20 villages within a 3-4 km radius. On average, a planter can establish 3 to 5 chu*ches per year. 1 @ $80/month or $960 annual gift
19 Chu*ch Multiplication Coaches–Each coach is assigned to a block, mentors and supervises the chu*ch planters, and connects movements among people groups. 1 @ $150/month or $1,800 annual gift
5 Master Trainers–Together, these trainers supervise the coaches and oversee the training process in the district. 1 @ $200/month or $2,400 annual gift
1 Movement Leader–The overall district leader will supervise the entire process of training, deployment and supervision of the 165 workers assigned to this project, including one accountant who will ensure all funds are properly transmitted and tracked. 1 @ $250/month or $3,000 annual gift
