Empowering Women as Partners in Ministry

Updated: Feb 11

A group of people standing with a sign.

Jai Masih Ki! Over the last couple months, I had the joy of worshiping and learning alongside an amazing group of 80 Indian women whose husbands are serving in ministry. Though we live thousands of miles away, and speak different languages, we were united as sisters in Christ as we prayed, sang and heard weekly biblical teachings from female speakers in the U.S. It was a foretaste of heaven!

You may remember, in 2021, our partner* created a Women’s Empowerment Group to encourage the wives’ of ministry workers. Their husbands often travel to villages, leaving the women to manage the household. Instead of becoming resentful of their spouses (or even the ministry), our partner wanted them to see that they are partners with their spouses in ministry.

Well, our Indian sisters found the teachings incredibly valuable and appreciated having something just for them, so we gathered a new group of women this past August! We quickly realized that Indian wives and mothers struggle with similar issues that many of us in the U.S. do: What to do when your teenager won’t listen to your godly advice and choses to go down the wrong path? What do you do when you and your spouse have the same argument over and over? And more.

I was reminded of the importance of living out our faith in community. Fasting with prayer, with a group of fellow believers, is the most impactful thing we can do. So, I invite you to join me in unleashing the power of God and praying for:

  • The married couples to see each other as partners in ministry, and for them to communicate effectively and respectfully;

  • The married couples to parent with wisdom, discernment and in unity;

  • These women to be encouraged and empowered as they understand they are God’s precious daughters, made in His image; and

  • The women to identify and use their spiritual gifts for the Kingdom and find joy in serving.

In addition, please pray for the 11 travelers going on a vision trip to see the ministry in India later this month. And, praise the Lord for answering our prayers and granting the  ministry’s school government accreditation at the central level!

Dhanyavaad! Your sister in Christ,

Kristin Flenniken
